'Captain Cry Baby'
After the Sam Konstas incident at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last week, the Australian media showed no mercy to India's top batsman Virat Kohli. However, they have since moved on from the former captain and have set their sights on Rohit Sharma. The incumbent captain was humiliated for his outburst at Yashasvi Jaiswal during Sunday's fourth Test match against Australia, according to a new attack from the same publication.
Australia and India engaged in a
see-saw battle on day four. In the afternoon session, when Australia was down
six for 91, Jasprit Bumrah took three quick wickets to pull the tourists back
into the match. However, the hosts rallied after an outstanding fifty from
Marnus Labuschagne and a hard-fought fifty-run partnership between Nathan Lyon
and Scott Boland.
Jaiswal had an unmemorable time on
the field during the first two sessions, dropping up to three catches. However,
Rohit was scrutinized for his response after his opening partner dropped
Labuschagne on 47. The 37-year-old threw his hands in frustration as he became
enraged with Jaiswal. Later, when the child dropped Pat Cummins, he even
screamed.
Neither the Australian media nor the
commentators were pleased with the response. The West Australian, the same
magazine that had mocked Kohli by referring to him as "Clown,"
attacked Rohit on Sunday, using the headline "Captain Cry Baby" in
reference to the same incident. "It turns out that Kohli isn't the only
sook in the Indian side," the slug continued.
