Smriti Mandhana sets a huge world record
With a century against Australia, Smriti Mandhana sets a huge world record, but she is unable to stop India's 0–3 thumping.
Smriti Mandhana, the vice captain of Team India, made history by becoming the first female cricket player to reach four ODI hundreds in a single year.
With a spectacular century against Australia in the third One-Day International at the W.A.C.A. Ground in Perth, Smriti Mandhana made history. The Indian star made history with his fourth century of the year, but the knock was in vain as India lost the match by 83 runs.
Mandhana fought a solitary battle with the bat for the visitors, smashing 105 runs off 109 balls as they chased the 299-run target. Up until she was in the middle, the left-handed batter kept India in the chase, but once she left, they collapsed badly, going from 189/3 to 210 all-out.
In ODIs this year, Madhana has been India's most productive batswoman, but she hasn't received much help from the opposition. Consequently, the Women in Blue lost multiple chances to cross the finish line.
In one year, the Indian vice-captain became the first female cricket player to reach four ODI hundreds. Seven female cricket players, including South African captain Laura, previously scored three ODI tons in a single year.
This year, Wolvaardt did it. Meg Lanning (2016), Amy Satterthwaite (2016), Sophie Devine (2018), Sidra Amin (2022), Nat Sciver-Brunt (2023), and Belinda Clark (1997) are the other names on the list.
