Bollywood’s next-generation star Aryan Khan has marked a significant milestone in his career. The 27-year-old filmmaker received his first professional award — Best Debutant Director of the Year — at the prestigious NDTV Indian of the Year Awards 2025, held in New Delhi on December 19.

Aryan was honoured for his directorial debut, the Netflix original series The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, a razor-sharp satirical comedy that took the internet by storm. The show, which premiered on September 18, 2025, was named IMDb’s Most Popular Indian Series of 2025. It stars Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Bobby Deol, Anya Singh, Mona Singh, and Manoj Pahwa, and boldly mocks the inner workings of the Hindi film industry.

The award ceremony turned deeply emotional when Aryan was accompanied by his grandmother, Savita Chhibber. Overwhelmed with joy, she was seen wiping tears as she told Aryan, “I’m very happy. You are my most loved grandson. I’m so proud of you.” Aryan, visibly moved, hugged her tightly, touched her feet, and promised to dedicate his next award to her.

In his acceptance speech, Aryan expressed gratitude to his cast, crew, and Netflix, before dedicating the award to his mother, Gauri Khan.
