As the Portugal captain was not included in the matchday squad on Friday, fans of Cristiano Ronaldo were surprised to see the team sheet for the Saudi Pro League match between Al Nassr and Al Kholood.

In Nassr's seven matches this season, Ronaldo has scored six goals and assisted on two others. He also scored the winning goal in their previous Saudi Pro League match, a 1-0 victory over Al Shabab.

The 39-year-old, on the other hand, was not included in the squad for the away match against Al Kholood.

Why does Ronaldo not participate in AL KHOLOOD versus AL NASSR?

Ronaldo's nonappearance from the matchday crew could be an essential move by Stefano Pioli, with the group well searching in the Asian Bosses Association. So far, no injuries have been reported to the forward.

The Portugal legend's fitness might be a problem at 39, which could hurt Al Nassr's chances of winning the Champions League later in the season.

He missed the match against Al Shorta in the Champions League last month because of a viral infection.

The club had previously written on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, "Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo was not feeling well today and was diagnosed with a viral infection."

The team's physician confirmed that he must rest and remain at home. He won't be joining the team today to go to Iraq as a result. We hope our captain recovers quickly.
