After Mumbai City FC's thrilling 4-2 victory over Kerala
Blasters FC on Sunday in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Mumbai Football
Arena, head coach Petr Kratky expressed his satisfaction as well as the need
for additional improvement. Mumbai City FC took a two-goal lead in the game
thanks to goals from Nikolaos Karelis in the ninth and 55th minutes,
respectively. The second goal came from a penalty kick.
Jesus Jimenez converted a penalty in the 57th minute to cut
Mumbai City FC's lead in half. Kwame Peprah then headed in an equalizer in the
71st minute. After receiving a second yellow card in the 72nd minute, Peprah
received his marching orders.
Nathan Rodrigues' goal in the 75th minute gave the islanders
their second lead, and Lallianzuala Chhangte's goal in the 90th minute gave the
islanders all three points. At the post-game press conference, Kratky
celebrated the win but stressed the need for improvement because Kerala
Blasters FC scored an equalizer in the second half despite leading 2-0.
"I think we scored four goals... Our team needs to
create opportunities for goals. Then we occasionally miss a tiny final touch.
But once more, I'm very pleased with the overall manner in which we take
advantage of opportunities and chances. Again, we will work to improve it and
score more goals, but we cannot anticipate scoring from every opportunity...
You must accept this. The striker (Karelis) scored two goals
today, which is fantastic. He has opportunities to score in every game, which
makes us happy, and we try to keep him in that form for the rest of the season.
Overall, I'm happy. We just scored four goals, and we need to figure out why we
gave up two of them because we should not have given them up when we were
leading 2-0.
But overall, with the changes, I'm happy. He stated November
3, 2024, Indian Super League IndSuperLeague Rodrigues scored his first
Islanders goal. The left-back position has been taken over by the full-back,
who has started their last four games.
He said, "Nathan came to this club before I did,"
referring to the young Rodrigues who gave Mumbai City FC their crucial lead in
the 75th minute. Because he has the potential to play at a high level, he
joined this club. He plays football well, but we still need to work on a lot of
things, keep him motivated, and play good football because that is why he is
here.
Although it will be a long journey for him, I am very happy
for him. The key right now is consistency, especially with young players like
him. As a result, we are aware of his capabilities and quality, and we
anticipate his continued improvement.
However, there will also be setbacks, poor performances, and
errors, but we are here to support him, help him become the best version of
himself, and help him play good football. So it's hard to play the way we want
to, but he has potential, and we'll do our best to keep him motivated and make
him as consistent as we can at the top levels.
Kratky emphasized both the need for improvement and the
necessity of looking beyond perfection. There are numerous areas in which we
must improve. Second ball, long ball; Chennai is our destination. There are
league teams that prefer to play longer games. However, once more, this is part
of the journey. It's not always perfect. There is not perfection. With the
humans, we play. My only request is that each time our players step onto the
field, they give it their all. Acceptance is also required.
Support them, try to show them how it can be done better,
and work with them when they make mistakes. It takes time. We need to get
better and be more dominant in every aspect of the game. But once more, you
have to accept that humans won't always be right because they aren't robots. In
the future, Mumbai City will need to improve its ability to win an away game on
November 9 against Chennayin FC.
