"In a thrilling U18

details!"
Using
Twitter and Facebook Manchester United defeated Leeds 3-0 in Saturday's U18
Premier League Cup match at Carrington thanks to three goals in the first half.
Jaydan Kamason, a right-back, gave United the ide al start by putting us ahead within two
minutes. Amir Ibragimov fed the ball in on goal after the defender nipped in to
win it back, and he maintained his composure to finish low and hard from a tight
angle.
From then
on, the young Reds controlled the game and almost took a 2-0 lead when
Ibragimov's swirling cross bounced off the crossbar. A few minutes later,
Kamason's low cross found James Scanlon, who had Louie Dudley clear his
close-range attempt off the line. But Adam Lawrence's high-scoring team scored
twice more on the stroke of halftime, so Scanlon did get his goal just before
halftime. Ibragimov was the provider once more, teeing up Chido Obi to volley
home from inside the 18-yard box after our number 11 put Ibragimov's ball into
the box with a first-time effort.
Our young
Reds were clinical and took full advantage of what we could create in stormy
conditions at Carrington, even though chances were by no means free flowing in
the first forty-five minutes. After the half, Leeds kept fighting and trying to
find a way back into the match, making opportunities harder to come by. Harvey
Vincent, cutting in from their right flank, curled a left-footed shot just over
the crossbar before forcing Cameron Byrne-Hughes, the United goalkeeper, to
hold onto a fierce strike that skidded up off the wet turf.
The
visitors' goalie, George Kenyon, denied substitute Gabriele Biancheri a
one-on-one attempt to extend our lead in the second half, but Lawrence's team's
three goals and victory were sufficient to overtake Leeds and finish first in
Group B on goal differential, guaranteeing them a spot in the competition's
next round.
