Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt Arrested In ₹30 Crore Fraud Case Involving Film Investment

Mumbai: Well-known filmmaker and director Vikram Bhatt has been arrested in connection with an alleged ₹30 crore cheating and fraud case, along with six other individuals. The arrest was carried out by Rajasthan Police, who took Bhatt into custody from Mumbai following a case registered in Udaipur.

According to police officials, the complaint was filed by Dr Ajay Murdia, a prominent fertility clinic entrepreneur. The complainant alleged that he was induced to invest a large sum of money in film projects after being promised high financial returns. One of the proposed projects reportedly included a biopic based on his late wife, which became a key factor in securing the investment.

Investigators claim that despite receiving substantial funds, the films were never completed as promised. During the probe, authorities allegedly found fake documents, inflated production bills, and misleading financial records, which were reportedly used to divert the money.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Udaipur’s Bhupalpura police station, citing charges related to cheating, criminal conspiracy, and forgery. Following the arrest, Vikram Bhatt was placed under transit remand and is expected to be taken to Udaipur for further questioning.

Meanwhile, Bhatt has denied the allegations, calling the case misleading. He has claimed that the documents presented in the complaint may have been fabricated and has stated that he will cooperate with the investigation.

Police officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that more individuals connected with the financial dealings and film projects may be questioned in the coming days. The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of a senior Bollywood filmmaker and the large amount of money allegedly involved.
